Day 10

The Mindset

On day 10 of fast-action, we will take a collective breath and do what is unheard of in today’s world: we look back and self-evaluate.

With over 400 hours of content uploaded to YouTube every minute (rough math says that’s over ½ million hours of content per day), let’s just say we are in a period of time that isn’t looking at their actions, course correcting, and aiming for mastery. No. The focus is clearly on going a mile wide and an inch deep.

Looking back at the first half of our time together will allow us to instead go an inch wide and mile deep with one or more of our fast-actions. By doing this we can have the gift of reflection, gratitude, and celebration for what we’ve both done and that which we have skipped.

And do we dare do that in a program designed to keep us moving forward? Of course, we do! Because in each of those (the work we’ve done and skipped) there are clues to the combination of the lock that opens the door to our greatest gifts and abilities.

We don’t need ½ million hours of uploaded videos for that – we need a quiet moment of honest accountability, a system for positive feedback, and a clear agreement to course correct.

The Fast-Action

Which of the last 9 days did ACE and which one did you find something else to do instead?

  • The simple feedback look I use with clients, family, friends who ask, and in leading workshops is this: What/Why What/What/Why – and both people do this!
  • The Self-Praise
    • Self-evaluation: What worked.
    • Why did it work?
  • Partner Praise
    • What worked.
    • Why did it work?
  • The Cut (self-evaluation)
    • What might have been better (big picture)?
    • What specific action?
    • Why would it be better

Jim Perry made the (possible) mistake in asking me about food! Well, I hope the answer made sense. It’s something I talk a lot about and managed to keep this answer pretty short.

I’ll only add, Jim, that it’s not easy. There is a period of time where you might have to “white knuckle” it. Water and body movement will set you free. Change takes change.

Day I aced: 7 (accountability on physical body)

    What worked?
Doing a completion on disliking the sound of my own voice, I recorded the script on a voice memo for myself to do, kind of like a guided meditation.
As soon as I started listening I had to laugh, realizing the ‘problem’ was now serving as the solution. It worked because I heard and felt that not only is my voice not annoying or childish sounding, but it has power in what it says, how it says it, and it helps me.

    What would have worked better?
To share it and let it do the same for others. I was going to record a ‘better’ version, but that’s not fast enough. So in case anyone wants a quick guided audio of a completion you can find it here:

Bonus: I didn’t want to upload it to my personal page so I ended up making a new account for the project I’ve been working on.
