Day 16

The Mindset

Looking through the pages of what specifically we are here to create – that which you’ve admitted to having sat on for too long, one point is clear to me: these all could have been done at any time in the last year.

There is a reason that has kept you from doing it, and I want to take a wild stab at what that is. And before you write it off and say, “that’s not the reason for me”, realize that I’m not talking about the logistical reasons. I’m talking about the under-under-under reason that has mentally, emotionally, energetically, and probably even systemically kept you from creating it so far.

My guess is that you aren’t 100% sure of who it’s for and what it’s for. Today we are going to do some fast-action exercises. The result of those exercises will walk us through the door of clarity into full understanding who it’s for and what it’s for.

With a deep sense of connection to THE WHY that you created yesterday, today’s work will put us firmly on the road to being able to sell, offer, and display which we have sat on for too long.

The Fast-Action

  • Have your project front and center
  • Let’s first look at Who It’s For
  • Ask yourself
    • Is this for someone already looking for ____________?
    • What’s missing from the market that this person needs to be solved?
    • Are there people actively searching for this solution?
      • Maybe not – but are they looking for an experience, feeling, or result that you can give them?
    • Are there people who have used similar products/services that are ripe for a new opportunity?
    • What can I say about this offering that will instantly connect with the right person and disgust the wrong person?
    • Alice Cooper, Vegemite, and bungee jumping aren’t for everyone, but the right people can’t get enough.
    • What does your person believe?
    • Who do they trust?
    • What do they really, really want?
    • What fears do they have?
  • Your work for today is to form a sentence or two about Who it’s For!
  • Now let’s look at What’s It For
  • Ask yourself
    • This has probably tripped you up on a crippling level for quite some time
    • It doesn’t have to be complicated – and answering it will be a blueprint to the creation
    • Ready? If it only had to do one thing: what is it?
      • Not for you – but for the buyer. What does this creation have to do?
    • How will their life be different if they say yes?
    • What would a video camera see?
    • What do you need to create to make sure it works?
    • What can you say about it that will let people instantly know it’s NOT for them?
      • This lets them know this is not about your sales
      • This says, “I am congruent with your needs – that’s #1”
  • Your work for today is to form a sentence or two about What it’s For!
  • These exercises might cause you to radically rethink your offering – and they should.
  • With these couple sentences, you’ll be standing under an umbrella that gives you every answer toward creation.

Photo of the Day

I’m using this photo because it reminds me of the commitment we’ve all made. It’s very unusual to keep showing up like this! It’s hard to go “back to normal” after something like this. You are who this is for.
